About us
Lumbermen’s Insurance Agency was founded in 1949 for the purpose of writing workers compensation for sawmills of East Texas. This coverage
was written through Lumbermen’s Insurance Corporation, and was owned by Mr. George L. Wayland, along with a number of investors who were primarily
saw mill owners. In the early 1970’s, the Agency was incorporated, and the name changed to Lumbermen’s Insurance Agency, Inc.
After graduating college, Steven L. Wayland moved back to Lufkin and began assisting his father in the day to day operations of the agency.
Steven became President of the Agency on January 1, 1984, just before the death of his father and agency founder, George L. Wayland.
As Steven’s client base has grown over the years, his time is now service-focused for his clients, and he has taken on the role of agency Treasurer.
Kelli C. Wayland is now the President of Lumbermen's Insurance Agency and has held this title since 2002. Kelli received her Bachelors and Masters
Degrees in Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University, and soon thereafter earned the designation “Doctor of Jurisprudence”
upon the completion of her Law Degree from Texas Tech University. Both Steven and Kelli are Certified Insurance Counselors.
